Tuesday, December 14

Just posting to let you know I'm still here.
Busy with family, holiday happenings, and the shop.
Floribelle has lots to offer if you are in the area.
Last minute gift ideas abound!
Shopping small business and local is so important.
If we lose all of our small businesses the only places left to shop will be the big guys.
I don't want that.  Do you?

The above photo was taken last Friday in Yuma.
A beautiful sunset!
One of the things I love about living in the desert.
Well, that and the warm weather during the winter months.....

Hope you all have a beautiful week!

November 29, 2010

One of my journal pages.  Working in a journal helps me confront creativity blocks.
Freedom to scribble, glue, and paint whatever I feel at the moment.
I highly recommend art journaling!

What I have been looking at lately:

These reimagined vintage globes are super cool!

Wonderful art of Paz Lopez

Great new online magazine, Pure Green Living

Wishing you a week filled with beauty and wonder!

Black Friday/Small Business Saturday

Hello!

Floribelle will be having two special days this coming weekend.
Black Friday and Small Business Saturday.  We will be offering 25% off
everything but consignment items.  There are so many great gift ideas and
holiday decorations for sale.  I hope you find time to stop in and visit!
We will be open 9am - 5pm on Friday, November 26 and
11am - 5pm on Saturday, November 27.

I had a table at the Yuma Civic Center Craft Bazaar this past Saturday.
Thank you to everyone who came by!  This was my first craft sale and
I wasn't sure what to expect.  There was a crowd in the morning, but the
afternoon was a little slow.  There were so many different events happening
in Yuma yesterday!  I am happy with the response to my handmade items and
I did sell quite a few things, which is great!  I will be bringing the remaining
items to Floribelle and they will be included in the sales on Friday and Saturday.

I hope the rest of your weekend is good to you!  :)

November in Arizona

I complain all summer about the heat, but when winter comes
I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!

In Arizona, you can spend the day at the Phoenix Zoo in November without a jacket.
Feed giraffes, ride a camel, hang out with monkeys, take a walk on a desert trail.
I can't remember what winter is really like, and I don't think I want to!

Wishing you a week filled with warm thoughts!

Getting Ready

This year I am getting ready for the holidays early.
The season goes by so quickly.
If I start earlier this year I will have
more time to enjoy all the goodness this time of year brings!

I am going to begin setting up displays at Floribelle.
If you feel excited about the holiday season, too, stop by and get inspired!

Here are a couple of links to get you motivated:

I hope your day is filled with good ideas!

Thursday, October 21

I will be heading to Julian, CA with my family this Saturday.
Floribelle will be closed for the day.
We will be stopping at a few favorite vintage/antique shops along the way
and will be looking for new treasures to bring back to Floribelle.
It's nice to take a little trip once in awhile.
New surroundings, different atmospheres.
And the Julian pie.....Mmmm.....what can I say?!

I hope you have a great weekend.
Enjoy the fall weather, take a walk, breathe the fresh air.
I know I will!

Friday, October 15

I know, I know, it has been awhile since I last posted.
I am not good at posting regularly, I see.
I try, but life gets in the way and I postpone blogging for later
and sometimes later takes MUCH later!
Sorry!  I will do my best in the future.....

It has been slow, slow, slow at Floribelle the last 2 weeks.  I have been keeping busy making stretchy bracelets.  Oh, I am definitely addicted to this!  I am a searcher of beads and trinkets and have been known to take apart necklaces to get to the beads.  I believe that I suffer a little from ADHD and making these bracelets is good for me.  Really, they are quick (generally), every design is different, and I don't get antsy while I am making them.  I will have tons to sell at the November Community Bazaar!

Yes, I am in love with making bracelets.
If I sell some of them I won't feel wacky for making so many!
It can't be all bad, though, if it calms my nerves, right?

Here are some finds from around the internet

Just in case I don't post again for awhile, I hope you have
a wonderful weekend and enjoy some time for yourself!  :)

Happy October

I love October.  The weather here in Yuma finally starts changing.
A little cooler, not many more triple digit days left now.
This morning I have the windows open, and my lace panels are blowing with the breeze.
Lovely and refreshing.  It is a gift to be able to open the windows after the long, hot summer.
There are some new Halloween inspired items at Floribelle, too.
Necklaces and Dia de los Muertos calaveros night lights made from gourds.
Stop in and have a look if you are in the area.

Internet travels:

Love these notebooks

I want a place like this in Yuma!
(maybe a rented room at the Yuma Art Center?  Hmmm.....)

This and this is why I love graffiti

I hope your weekend is wonderful.  I will be at the shop today from 11am - 5pm.
Come by and visit!
Tomorrow we hope to begin our Halloween yard decorations.
I will share pics when we are finished.
How about you?  Share your ideas for Halloween!

New Work

I have been busy creating items for the upcoming Community Bazaar
at the Yuma Civic Center on November 20, 2010.
I have so much more to do and I know the time will fly by.
This is a great opportunity for anyone making items by hand,
as all vendors participating must sell handmade items only.
I am excited to see the other booths and what art and crafters are up to
here in the Yuma area.  This will be the perfect chance to pick up some
great, unique Christmas gifts and decorations, too.
If you are around the Yuma, AZ area Saturday, November 20,
I hope you come by the Yuma Civic and Convention Center
between 9am - 4pm and visit.
Here are a few of the items I have finished so far.

I have been really into fiber/textile art these days
and am becoming obsessed with making jewelry.
I definitely have much to learn, but the experimenting is fun.
I would love to hear your thoughts on these
and what your obsessions are these days!

Wishing you happiness,

Sunday, Sunday

The weekend has gone so quickly....I hope you enjoyed yours!
We have seen many Praying Mantises around lately.  I think this
is a good thing, because they eat other bugs.  Or maybe it's not so good,
because that must mean we have lots of bugs around!  What do you think?
Anyone know anything about Praying Mantises they would like to share with me?

Here are some places I've visited this weekend:

We SO need this in Yuma.  I have called the Humane Society many times to report this and they have always reported back to me that there is nothing they can do, it is within the owners' rights.  Heartbreaking.

I hope you find time for the things that make you happy!
